The 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

NEW YORK — On Nov. 28, 2024, the 98th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, in front of their 34th St. flagship store, will take place at 8:30 a.m. in New York City, New York. The parade will broadcast nationwide, and NBC will host the three-hour event with TODAY’s show hosts Al Roker, Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb.

"The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a beloved tradition that marks the beginning of the holiday season for millions of live spectators and viewers across the country,” said the executive producer, Will Coss, of the parade.

With several parades and floats riding down the streets of New York and with 50 million people tuning into the show on their television and 3.5 million people lining the streets to watch as they float by, this parade is marked as one of the most watched events on the t.v. screen.

“A dedicated team of artisans and production experts at Macy’s Studios work year-round to bring this experience to life,” said Coss.

Along with the parade, multiple guest performers and performance groups take to the streets. Some of these guests include, for example, Charli D’Amelio and Rachel Platten, while some of the groups include Circus Vazquez, Riverdance and many more.

Speaking of balloons, one is the new fantastic Spider-Man, with this iteration for the parade created by the artist John Romita Jr. and standing at over 44 feet tall. The drawing of this hero first debuted in Marvel’s comic Daredevil

“It’s a perfect homecoming for Spider-Man—and for Marvel. Since Marvel Comics #1 hit the streets in 1939, New York has been part of our DNA. There’s no better way to honor that history and the incredible legacy of John Romita Sr. than by bringing Spidey back to the parade,” said Marvel’s franchise’s head, Chris Fondacaro.

Along with the Spider-Man balloon, some other notable balloons are making a massive debut. Goku, for example, is one of them from the Dragon Ball anime series sporting his yellow Saiyan form, a change from the 2018 version where he wore his blue Saiyan form.

Another balloon being featured in the parade is Minnie Mouse standing at 60 feet tall. Some fun information about her is that her birthday is seven days before Thanksgiving.

Returning characters for the parade include Bluey, Monkey D. Luffy, Smokey Bear, SpongeBob SquarePants and many more as balloons! As for the floats being featured during the parade that are returning, some of them, for example, are Camp Snoopy, Deck the Halls and the famous Santa Claus and his sleigh!

“This year’s 98th Macy’s Parade will create awe with unforgettable character balloons, one-of-a-kind floats and the world-class entertainment only Macy’s can deliver,” Coss explained.
