Thinking of Objects: Nature’s Personality

September 29, 2024

My project, “Nature’s Personality,” explores different objects that matter in my life, such as a ceramic squirrel, an animal plush, and a book, and how each reflects my personality while relating to nature. Each art piece for this project is designed in different formats to showcase how a personality is complex, layered, and not the same, but still keeps a consistent theme regarding the message of personality. Some of the challenges I dealt with were melding 2D into 3D, using AI, and simply planning out the outcome of each piece. I learned along the way the beauty of what it means that not everything, especially regarding the inner soul, is perfect, such as it is with my art. The squirrel, my ceramic squirrel, showcases wittiness with typography in lyrics from a song, and not being exactly 2D or 3D, showcasing Taylor Swift’s, “Out of the Woods.” The animal plush I own shows that safety and comfort are real, even though I'm digital and AI, and complements my plush as incomplete without them. The book, or “card” in this case, which takes inspiration from the Bible in my room, is printed and then crafted by hand, showing curiosity and how we should judge people fairly by their actions and words. Anyone can depict this project however they wish. Perhaps it might not make sense to the viewer at first, but it might reflect their own personality in a way that is not my own.
